Update on
Mom. She had a rough day yesterday. Lots of pain and not very tolerant of
everyone trying to help her. Last night Danny spent the night with her and she
got some new meds and a very good sleeping pill (Danny say's
"YEAH!!!!"). She slept pretty good. We decided to let her sleep and
not have much company today. She got some good rest and she is feeling lots
better. Uncle Wayne brought her a surprise this morning. He walked in with Dad.
Uncle Wayne went over to Dad's this morning and asked him if he wanted to check
on Sarah. Dad got his shoes and off they went. I walked in and they were having
a very good visit.
Mom had a few visitors, don't know who all
showed up but Mom was glad to see all of them. I checked in on her right after
supper and she was watching TV and about to catch a nap. She said she would be
OK tonight and didn't want anyone staying with her.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Goodnight to all....

Update on
Mom: Today was a much better day for Mom. She got to get dressed in her own
clothes. She made friends with the lady in her room. (Yesterday the lady was
trying to sleep when they moved her in the room). She did some exercises. She
got a 5X7 of the picture of Dad and Sophie. (Sheila's idea!!!) And the best
part of her day...... Sheila brought Dad to see her. Dad had a pretty good day
but wanted to go see Mom. He called around until he found a way to Paragould.
Dad has a Dr's appointment at Jonesboro in the morning and we will stop by the

Physically he can get around. But it takes him

But it was basic stuff. Can you eat by your self, does someone have to hand
feed you? Can you dress your self? Can you get yourself out of bed? Do you need
help going to the bathroom? He can do those things. And he can still is pretty
sharp. It is very frustrating. Maybe his family Doctor can help us out.

OK everyone,
Here is the latest on Mom and Dad. Mom is doing a lot better on her walking.
The re-hab group has said they would like to keep her an additional 10 to 14
days to get her strength back and be able to take care of things at home.
Dad on the other hand was transferred to a
Nursing Home today. He was placed in Belle Meade (the old Paragould Nursing
Home) for Speech Therapy. Physically he is in too good of shape to stay in the
hospital. The Doctors, Hospital and Social Workers all say that the best Speech
Therapy is at Belle Meade.
Our plans are to keep him out there for a
short time to help him start to talk again. We hope that some social
interaction could get him motivated enough to help him out.
This has been one of the toughest weeks we
have lived through. I know all of us have had to do it and for those who have
not yet, God help you. These days bring out the best and worst of all of us. My
family and friends have seen every side of me in the past few weeks.
I want to thank everyone who has helped all of
us and if we do not get time to thank you in the future I want to thank you in
advance.
This first night for Dad is going to be hard
on all of us, but it is going to be the hardest on Dad. Keep him and Mom in your
prayers. We all want them to go home, every stinkin' one of us and we are
working to get them back on the hill.
Goodnight All,
Dennis

Tonight when
I checked in on Dad he called Mom. They talked for a while and Dad said
something about Saturday, tomorrow and Monday. When they hung up Dad said
something like, "Nurses said tomorrow, I said Monday!"
I asked him it he wanted some good news, he
said "No". I laughed and told him that he was right, he was not
supposed to go home until Monday, but if he got up early in the morning and got
dressed, then I would come see him at 9:00 in the morning and take him home a
day early. We could get his stuff ready and they would have the papers ready
for him to leave at 10:00 am.
He got up and looked at the calendar. He
finally gave me a smile. He laid back down in the bed and said good night.
As I was walking out the door, he called my
name. I walked back in and he asked, "Where does Sarah live?", I said
at Marmaduke with him and Sohie. He said, "No, where does she live
now?"
------- Busted --------- I told him she was
going to be home when he got home tomorrow. He figured out something wasn't
right.

Sheila and I
went out to see Mom and Dad tonight. I had to finish putting up the handrails
in the shower. I needed something from the shop and Dad and I was walking out
there to get it.
When we rounded the end of the house Dad
stopped and pointed down to the ground. They had a fence put up so Sophie could
come out of the doggie door and go outside when see needed to go out. She could
walk right through the fence so we took it down. The grass is still dead where
the fence was.
Anyway, Dad said that today Sophie went
outside to go to the bathroom, when she wanted to go back in, she kept running
around the fence line trying to find a way through the fence. I told him he had
a silly dog and he chuckled and said, "Yep!". Dad telling a story...
Priceless!!!!!

Kaylin and I
saw Mom and Dad tonight. When we were leaving he walked outside and said,
"it's still a hundred degrees out here". I said he didn't need to
stay outside. He said, " Don't worry about that happenin' ". He then
watched us as Kaylin drove us home.

Dad decided he did not want to go with us. He
stayed at home. Mom had a good drs visit. He told her to start using the cane
around the house and only use the walker when she left the home.

THE FINISHED JOB |
Today Holly,
Adam and the kids went out to Mom and Dad's house. I showed up later in the
afternoon and we were sitting around talking. Dad leaned over to me and asked
if the water faucet out at the shop was still broke? I told him it was and he
knew it because we just talked about it a couple of days ago.
We had the water shut off to it because it was
leaking and planned to dig it up some weekend and fix it. Well, he decided to
turn the water back on today and it started leaking again. He joked that we
could wait till this weekend and let Danny dig it up and fix it. I told him we
would dig it up sometime this week. Him and Mom was sitting on the couch
sharing a bag of potato chips when I left.
I went home to get ready for Kaylin's open
house at school tonight. Mom called just before 6:00 and said that Dad wanted
to talk to me, he was washing his hands and would come to the phone. When he
picked up the phone he told he went ahead and dug up the faucet and found the
leak. I laughed and told him I thought we was waiting on Danny! He said he
decided to find what was wrong with it.
He said, "When you come out tomorrow,
bring me a 3/4" PVC Male Adapter, a 3/4" PVC Elbow, a short piece of
3/4" PVC pipe and some glue." Then he said, "Well I better go,
your Mom has supper ready and I better eat it."
The moral to this story is.... Check Your
Parents Medicines. This is from a guy who wandered around like he was lost all
the time to digging up water faucets and telling me what he needs to fix it.
Remember a couple of weeks ago when I said he actually watched a Western in the
nursing home. Just think what he has missed the past two years. Think what we
have missed.

For those of
you in the extended family that did not see these pictures, Dad's next oldest
brother from Alabama (Uncle Paul and Aunt Dean) came to Marmaduke to visit
Thanksgiving. Their daughter, Paula drove them and took these awesome pictures.
For the Hatchers, be sure and look for your
Uncle Doyle. Doyle, Uncle Paul and Kenneth Kuykendall all grew up together.
This is the last 4 of 6 kids. It was a great
reunion. Sit back, enjoy and share.

Thank you
all for your prayers. Quick update. Momma and Daddy got to spend Christmas day
with their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Today Dennis and I went and
visited Sunshine Manor, an assisted living facility in Paragould. They have a
suite available which would give momma and daddy a two room apartment, living
room and bedroom with their own bath. Dennis is taking momma to look at it
tomorrow. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers that we will make the right
decision for both of them. Love you all, Danny.

Mom and Dad will be staying home for the time
being. We have some help lined up and plans to have them covered most of the
time. We have had several prayers answered today. Thanks for everyone's support
and continued prayers.
